While it might appear all plain sailing from the outside, there are a lot of moving parts that brings “just another day” together in the life of an electrical contracting business. Today was the perfect day to share with you, so we thought we’d give you the Behind The Scenes look you’ve all been dying to read!

JOBS LIST:
Todays jobs list was as follows;
Team One:
- CROYDON VIC: 1 x 3 Phase 32A Outlet and 4 x 20A Outlets on machinery wall
- BAYSWATER VIC: Attend Machinery Fault for Commercial Client (we do their ongoing maintenence)
Team Two:
- WONGA PARK VIC: Start 2 Day Domestic Works

DAYS SCHEDULE:
Team One started at 7am at the machinery hire depot in Bayswater, to collect the scissor lift needed for the days works in the Croydon commercial precinct. By the time the scissor lift was attached to the work ute, we headed off to Croydon to meet the client on site at 7:30am for a final walk through on locations of the 32A outlets and the 20A outlets they’d requested.
By 8am we were on the scissor lift running cabling from the switchboard across to the 20A outlets, being that they were the hardest task for the day.
By 10am we were installing cabling for the 32A 3 Phase outlet needed on the far end of the factory, over 50m away. For the electrical nerds out there, we also needed to ensure we met the required 2.5% permissable voltage drop for the duration of the cabling run, for the 3 Phase load attached.
By 11:30am we managed to split Team One, with one licenced electrician remaining on site in Croydon to complete fit off, while the other licenced electrician returned the scissor lift to the depot, and attended the machinery fault in Bayswater at one of our commercial clients.

Team Two started at 7:30am to allow the home owners to have finished breakfast in Wonga Park. The scope of works here over the expected two days was to replace a range of downlights in the kitchen, as well as add more downlights in the rest of the house.
We also installed 3 x pendant lights in the Wonga Park kitchen, and added some additional power outlets to make the space more useable. A 5m striplight was also added, creating some much needed light in the kitchen food preparation area.

By the time Team Two had made some substantial progress, we had Team One join them to assist in getting some additional tasks done before the day ended…
The following day, both teams returned together to Wonga Park to finish works at the sprawling residence and ensure the client was happy with the result before dinner time.
Management:
During the day, Business Owner and Electrician Joey attended all jobs to ensure all was going to plan. Joey also attended 3 other site visits for quotes, collected materials for additional tasks the following day, and completed invoices and certificates of electrical safety for works done. While the team started from 7:30am til 3:30pm, Joeys hours were from 7am til 3pm, then a short break and finally a 2.5hr stint from 6pm til 8:30pm replying to emails, creating job files for our Real Estate Agent maintenance and Rental Compliance services and finally…. confirming staff have their gear and materials for the following day.

Interesting Fact: Each job we complete also has the leadup to that job, being the initial customer inquiry via the Verve Electrical website, or by calling us on 0428 862 963. The initial inquiry usually results in a quote, tentative approval, a site visit, and then final acceptance…. then the job is booked in, and a confirmation text is sent, then a reminder text is sent the day before. So just to get to the job on the big day can involve up to 3-4 hours of administration work. It’s quite a process, but we do our best at every stage of works and it shows in our Google Reviews!
