Why Consistency and Quality Products Matter in Electrical Work
At Verve Electrical, we take a lot of pride in the work we do across Melbourne’s south-east. From Croydon to Kilsyth, Ringwood to Lilydale, we’ve built our reputation on reliable service, honest communication, and safe electrical work that people can count on.

But no matter how long you’ve been in business, there’s always something to learn. Recently, we received feedback from a local customer in Melbourne that made us reflect on an important part of our service — the consistency of product quality.
We want to share what we’ve taken from that experience, because we believe it highlights something that matters to every homeowner: when you invite a tradesperson into your home, you deserve consistent service and reliable advice, every time. Especially when things go wrong…
Why Consistency Matters
Consistency isn’t just about showing up on time (although we make a point of doing that too). It’s about making sure that every part of the job, from the way we greet you at the door to the products we install, meets the same high standard.
Electrical work often isn’t something you can easily check yourself. You rely on your electrician to provide guidance, not just on how the job is done, but on what is installed in your home. A downlight, a ceiling fan, or a security camera might look similar across brands, but the performance and longevity can vary widely. That’s where consistency in our recommendations makes a real difference.
What We Learnt About Product Recommendations
In the CBD job, the electrical work itself was sound — safe, compliant and tested. But the review reminded us that customers are trusting us not only with installation but with the products we suggest. A product that doesn’t live up to expectations reflects on us, even if the installation is perfect.
In this instance, a product failed 5 years into its life, being approximately 5 days outside of Warranty. Because the manufacturer was not able to assist we assume, we got blamed for the product failing, despite having every piece of documentation, despite offering to attend site, and despite providing a 5 year old Certificate of Compliance within seconds.
THIS is why product choice matters, because it’s OUR reputation that is damaged by the product we installed, even though our workmanship still carried a lifetime workmanship guarantee.

That’s life. And it’s why we’ve doubled down on being choosy about what we recommend.
- Trusted brands only – we limit our product recommendations to those we know perform reliably in local conditions.
- Lifespan over price tag – a cheaper fitting might work today, but if it fails in two years, you’ll be paying twice. We’d rather suggest a product that lasts.
- Clear options – when there are multiple products available, we’ll explain the pros and cons so you can decide what works for your home and budget.
By doing this, we protect not only your investment but the integrity of the work we leave behind.
By NOT doing this, you’ll find the worlds cheapest electrician… using cheap equipment and no record keeping.
Protecting Your Home and Ourselves
Every job we complete comes with a Certificate of Electrical Safety, which guarantees that the electrical installation itself meets Victorian standards. But we now recognise that the products chosen can be just as important to your experience as the wiring behind the wall.
That’s why we’ve made product quality part of our service promise. We don’t just install — we recommend based on experience, not just availability or your space requirements. Whether it’s downlights in Ringwood, a ceiling fan in Lilydale, or a switchboard upgrade in Bayswater, the products we use are ones we’d happily install in our own homes, and the ones we historically know will cooperate with OUR client, and help us maintain OUR reputation as a result.
Local Trust is Built on Consistency
As local electricians, most of our work comes from repeat customers and word of mouth. That trust only lasts if people know what to expect when they call us. It’s not enough to deliver a great result most of the time — it has to be every time.
So, while the CBD review wasn’t easy to read, we’re grateful for it. It helped us sharpen our focus and improve a part of our service that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Product Choice and written clarification on who upholds a warranty if the item does fail.
Our Commitment Moving Forward
We’ll keep delivering the same friendly, professional service we’ve always been known for — but with an even stronger emphasis on recommending quality products that match the quality of our electrical work.
So whether you’re booking us for a new air conditioning unit in Mooroolbark, a security light in Warrandyte, or a full home renovation in Ringwood, you can expect:
- Clear advice on product options
- Honest recommendations based on performance and reliability
- Consistent workmanship that meets the same high standard on every job
- Class leading record keeping if the worst does happen
